How to use MySendero.com for downloading Sendero software, maps, Points of Interest and documents Note: You must have a high speed connection and should download maps and documentation on a PC rather than on the BrailleNote. By downloading maps and POIs, you are agreeing that you are the authorized Sendero license holder for the account you have entered and for the country data you are downloading. Select the link which says, "Download Maps and Software" That will take you to another page where you will need your serial number and password. 2. Select the first edit box and enter your BrailleNote serial number, xxxxx. Do not press Enter yet. 3. Tab to the Password Edit box and enter your password, which will be your last name, all lower case, until you change it. 4. Tab to the Login button and press enter. You will now be taken to the software and map download page. If the log-in fails, close your browser and try again. You are presented with selections for both software and maps as well as for documentation for your specific product. 5. Press Enter on the combo box for the software product shown and then download and save that file on your compact flash card. Follow the instructions below to install the software on your BrailleNote product. 6. Download the zip file containing the documentation and audio tutorial and save it on your computer. Then, unzip the files. 7. Here are the steps for downloading map and POI data: a. Select the Combo box and arrow to the state, province or country you wish to download. b. Tab to the "Show Download" button and press Enter. c. Tab or arrow through the links and press Enter on the state you wish to download. d. Tab to the Save field and press Enter. You are downloading a zip file. You must have WinZip on your computer. If you choose Open instead of Save, the WinZip program will be run and you will be presented with the option to unzip the files. e. Tab through the Download dialog to select the location of the download folder. A file name should already be in its field. Press enter on the Save button to begin the download. Large states will take 15 minutes or more to download depending upon the connection speed. f. Once the download is complete, unzip and copy the map and POI files into the Maps folder on your Compact Flash card to be used in the BrailleNote. g. To download additional map files, use the Combo box to highlight the new item and select the "Show Download" button again. Repeat the steps above. Make sure you select all the files and copy them into the maps folder on the compact flash card. Note, there are also extra POI files available on the MySendero.com page. Installing software on the BrailleNote 1. Copy your serialized software .exe file to the compact flash card. 2. Press and release the Reset with the 3 keys held down, dots 123 on the Braille keyboard or the SDF keys held together on the QT keyboard. You will hear a beep after releasing the Reset. Wait 10 seconds for the chime before releasing the 3 keys. The PK uses C3 with C4 as the equivalent of the Reset button. After resetting, insert the compact flash card. Note, if you don't hold the 3 keys down long enough, you will get a message that some files are in use and you cannot install over them. Do the reset again and hold those 3 keys longer. 3. From the Main Menu, press U for Utilities, A for Applications and then select the Compact Flash card and select the application you wish to install. When it says, Command Prompt, just press Enter and continue pressing Enter through the other prompts. If you receive a message saying that the existing files are newer than the version you are installing, ignore this and press Enter to overwrite the former files with the new ones. At the end you will be prompted to press Reset with no keys held down. Enjoy your new Sendero product.
